Free Ice Cream @ Three Twins (Friday)We've had this one on the calendar for weeks (waiting for the 71 bus at the corner of Haight and Fillmore gives you lots of free time). The Lower Haight's organic ice cream parlor, Three Twins Ice Cream, is giving away the store (well, in very small portions) for one day only. From noon until 11 p.m., get a little scoop of heaven without paying for it. A little more info at FuncheapSF.com.
Hunx & His Punks @ El Rio (Saturday)
Hunx & His Punks make some of the best videos in town. Under Justin Kelly's direction, these minimusicals take you back in time to the days of girl group yearning, but updated for our queer punk hero. The clips are as visually colorful as the subject matter, scuffing up the old formulas for cruising, crushing, and waiting for a dude's call. Check out these Hunx-y movies over on MySpace, and see the group live tonight at El Rio. ($7, 10 p.m.)
Richard Avedon Film Series @ SFMOMA (Saturday)
On Saturday afternoon, SFMOMA screens three films (ranging in length from 12 to 58 minutes) that came out of a collaboration between photographer Richard Avedon and writer James Baldwin, a series called Nothing Personal. Today's gems include Sammy Davis Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy celebrating Christmas (Jingle Bells) and the bizarro-sounding bit about Timothy Leary getting married (You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You). Screening starts at 3 p.m. ($5 general, free for members and with museum admission).
4OneFunktion @ Elbo Room (Saturday)
There's gonna be plenty of bass rattling and booty shaking the Elbo Room Saturday night, when 4OneFunk takes over the club. Guest DJs E da Boss and Whooligan team up with residents Mista B, A-Ron The Don, and B.Cause to make it hard for you to stay off the dancefloor. ($5, or email for guestlist goodcompanysf@gmail.com, 10 p.m.)
Ghosts, Sinners & Secret Places (Saturday)
Kick off your Saturday night with a little twisted education, thanks to San Francisco City Guides. It's time for another installment of the popular "Ghosts, Sinners & Secret Places" tour, which clues walkers in to a labyrinth of old San Francisco speakeasies, hidden tunnels, and scandals. Meet at the kiosk in Hallidie Plaza at Market and Powell. (7 p.m., free)
