As heavy workloads and hectic urban lifestyles work to compress your brain matter until you're about to implode, you can always turn to good music to help slow your roll. San Francisco electronic artist Brock Van Wey (aka bvdub) connects your ears to helium atmospherics, so your head can float above it all -- even as your feet shuffle to his beats. His tracks come on like a trance, with the sounds of ocean waves and subdued seagulls blending into warm waves of droning synth melodies. Check out  "Mingtian",
a gentle techno tune that performs an aural massage inspired by Van Wey's "sadness and daydreams." He recently released a full-length record, White Clouds Drift On and On, perfect for carefree cumulus gazing.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
