Festival News: Budget Rock in S.F., More Mission Creek

Posted By on Thu, Jun 25, 2009 at 11:42 AM

Budget Rock, the Bay Area's trashy garage rock fest, comes back to this side of the bridge for its eighth year on October 22-25. The rock 'n' roll weekender has called the Stork Club home for the past couple years, but San Francisco folks should be stoked to hear the 2009 party will return to Bottom of the Hill, with additional shows at Thee Parkside and the Eagle.

We're still trying to get info on 2009's Mission Creek Music Fest, which seems to be cutting its lineup announcements really close this year. Not sure what's going on over at camp MC, but they added some hints to their Web site: this year's lineup includes Evangelista, Ann Magnuson, Jessie Evans, Shogun Kuntoki, William Winant/Weasel Walter/ Moe! Staiano Trio, Pop Noir, Ink Blots, Nacotheque, Juan Son, Curly Lou/Clara Gustavson, Dead Meadow, Xoel Lopez, Miranda Lee Richards, and Extra Action Marching Band. Sadly, there's nothing hinting at the return of Vincent Gallo and the ballerinas.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
