September is going to be a busy month for highly anticipated San Francisco releases. First the Dodos announced that their third record, Time to Die, will be out on 9/15, and now we have the debut full-length from Girls out one week later, on 9/22. The Girls record, called Rejoice! is said to pay homage to summer--from the Dolores Park hangouts to the bummer hangovers. The bedroom- and studio recorded album is aimed at lifting spirits through layers of blissful pop. It comes out on True Panther Recordings, in conjunction with Matador Records. Perhaps you can get a taste of what's to come next week, when Girls play the Stud on Wednesday, July 1.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
