Patrick Wolf: Fantas-Tweets of SF Arrest?

The blogs are a twitter this week about Patrick Wolf's claims that he was arrested for spitting in a bouncer's face after Monday night's show at Slim's. SFist detailed the tweets the pop drama queen sent out to his fans, but the reality of the situation is still pretty murky. His publicist says Wolf's camp is "declining to comment" on the situation, which makes the young Brit's assertion of being arrested and "almost shot in the face" sound a little fishy.

A Slim's spokesperson says Wolf may suffer from a "very over-active imagination," adding that there was no run-in with any of Slim's bouncers, and as far as the staff knows, he wasn't detained or arrested.

Track of the Day: Miss Kittin & The Hacker (Thieves Like Us Remix)

This tune by Miss Kittin & the Hacker has San Francisco written all over it: "Party in My Head" is a little bit disco (with melodies that bounce like an inflatable castle), a little bit electro (with basslines that'll drive kids to the dancefloor like shots of Fernet) and it warms up Miss Kittin's typically icy vocals into temperatures that don't require ear muffs. The single is a great remix by Paris' Thieves Like Us, who grabbed the song from Kittin 'n' Hacker's new album, Two.

The Warfield

Better than:
Fighting a cyclone.

It looked like Guitar Center up there on stage last night before Neko Case strode up to the mic, with a dozen different guitars lined up for the cherry-haired songstress to pick up and play over the course of the evening.

The arsenal of instruments only added to the feeling that the Warfield was less a club that night, and more Case's club house--a place she hung out with old friends and collaborators like Kelly Hogan, piling her long hair into knots on her head between every song; telling both real and made up stories about, say, unicorns coming out of her ass that she would then "ride like pool noodles"; and singing so loud and clear she could've knocked the dust off the venue's golden rafters.

Live, Case is nothing if not personable, and with Hogan as her backup singer and side(wo)man, she turns a performance that sounds flawless as a studio recording into an old-fashioned variety show--meaning plenty of jokes that seemed to put both the band, and her fans, at ease.

New Ceu Album Coming Soon

Viva Brazil: Ceu
  • Viva Brazil: Ceu

Six Degrees artist Ceu has completed a follow-up to her Grammy-nominated 2007 self-titled debut. The news album, called Vagarosa--a rough translation is "at a relaxed pace"--has been given a July 7 drop date, which is good news for people who love amazing music sung by Brazilian vocalists with incredible voices.

If you just can't wait until then, here's a free download of "Bubuia," which showcases Ceu's marvelous timbre, as well as her penchant for what might be called Brazilian neo-soul. From the sound of things, labelmate and fellow countrywoman Bebel Gilberto has some serious competition. Decide for yourself when Ceu plays the Herbst Theatre on July 19.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
