Goood morning, all you pot smokers! Today, as you all know, is April 20th, or 4/20 (wink wink nudge nudge cough cough). And though it's still several long, sober hours until 4:20 proper, ASD has a lil' somethin' somethin' to help all you cubicle jockeys make it through the day: a funky tribute to medical marijuana and old school hip-hop, freaked Bay Area style, courtesy of G-Stack aka Purple Mane. Yes, it's "Dr. Purp Thumb," and he can get you what you need.

On this song--thanks to Will B. at SMC Recordings for the link--the legendary Oakland rapper adopts a storytelling cadence and spins a yarn about filling prescriptions for those in need over a remake of Kool Moe Dee's classic "Go See the Doctor" beat. That should tide y'all over until this afternoon.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
