Uriah Duffy was named after '70s rawk band Uriah Heep; his bother is reportedly named Yes, though there's no truth to the rumor his second cousin is named Jethro Tull. He's also the Bay Area's most badd-ass, best-kept secret. You've probably seen him bangin' his four-string bludgeon with Lyrics Born. Or Whitesnake. Or any one of a hundred bands.

Tonight his new outfit--featuring guitarist B'Nai Rebelfront (the Coup, Lyrics Born)--and members of Sly & the Family Stone/Graham Central Station--plays a slightly under-the-radar gig at the Boom Boom Room (in advance of an upcoming tour). Though billed as a solo set by Duffy, you can expect plenty of musical camaraderie, as well as funky basslines, rock star poses, and harmless mayhem.

Show details are here;  you can read all about Uriah's discography and check out his "axes" here; or check out some video footage of Uriah playing with Whitesnake in Argentina and with Lyrics Born on Jimmy Kimmel here. This could be the beginning of something big, so remember, ya heard it here first, boys and girls!

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
