MP3 of the Day: Black Lips

Posted By on Mon, Dec 29, 2008 at 11:17 AM

As 2008 has heads toward its big finale, those Atlanta punks the Black Lips have the perfect soundtrack for trading last year's sins for a whole new batch of vices. "Starting Over" is the first song the group's released from its upcoming record, 200 Million Thousand (out Feb. 24), and it's one of them sweet Lips tracks that hides all their wild insanity inside promises of innocence (but sung with such slurred intensity you know they're gonna have to start over more than just once). Vice Records send out a link for a free download to the song last week, but if you missed that one, you can still check out the song on blogs like The Yellow Stereo. -- Jennifer Maerz

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
