Neil Young to Release Sugar Mountain Live From the Vaults

Posted By on Wed, Oct 15, 2008 at 10:06 AM

Neil Young fans will be happy to know there's a new batch of old material coming up on the market soon. On November 25, the songwriter will release Mountain Live At Canterbury House 1968, a set recorded when he was just 23 years old in November of 1968. The music is the launch of Young's solo career, recorded six months after he left the Buffalo Springfield and performed on the campus of University of Michigan in Ann Arbor as a trial balloon to see how fans would react to his material. He performed songs from his time in Buffalo Springfield as well as tunes that became classics on future Neil Young records. He also gave a "spoken word" performance about his day job in a Toronto book store that made it on to Mountain Live as well. -- Jennifer Maerz

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
