My friend Robert over at Amoeba hipped me to these guys, Personal and Pizzas, noting that they had the best band name around. I'll admit I didn't get it at first, but listening to their Dictators/Stooges/drunk 'n' Happy Days scuzz, these Pizzas have grown on me. Their songs are rip-offs of every delinquent punk act ever zipped into a leather jacket, but stupid fun is still fun nonetheless. These dudes champion low brow highlights and, Robert tells me, have been known to get a cheese pie delivered during their live sets. You might think you're adverse to Personal and the Pizzas, but one singalong to "I Can Read" (on the band's MySpace page) and you might just want to order up a slice, ya got it? (The band plays the Knockout on the 19th). -- Jennifer Maerz

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
