MP3 of the Day: Z-Trip Hypes Obama

Posted By on Thu, Oct 2, 2008 at 10:56 AM

Ok, so for some artists, the mix of politics and music is a terribly preachy combo. But the Obama fever is so infectious -- and frankly, I'm so excited to watch the VP candidate debates tonight (come to Nickies, at Haight and Fillmore, with a crew of us if you want a spot to watch on big screen TVs) that I have to post this Z-Trip "Obama Mix." It pulls in a little of this (Pink Floyd) a little of that (Public Enemy), some Obama speech samples, and a lot of rhetoric for positive change. The track is a cool little marker for our time, and for how far-reaching momentum for this Democratic candidate has spread. Download the "Obama Mix" for free here ... and here's to Biden kicking ass tonight (without seeming, ya know, all cocky about it). -- Jennifer Maerz

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
