Get Yer Yuk-Yuks Out: Comedy Day Returns Once Again to Golden Gate Park

Posted By on Tue, Sep 16, 2008 at 1:38 PM

Despite the April '08 passing of event founder Jose Simon (pictured right), the annual San Francisco Comedy Day will still bring the laffs, yuks, chuckles, guffaws, and groaning eye-rolls to Sharon Meadow in Golden Gate Park. The 2008 event happens on Sunday, Sept. 28, starts at noon, and features Will Durst, Tom Rhodes, Diane Amos, Brent Weinbach, Joe Klocek, Mike E. Winfield, Marga Gomez, W. Kamau Bell, Tom Ammiano, Drennon Davis, and 20 other comedians. How much for all this joking and jocularity? Nothin', of course. Comedy Day is (and hopefully always will be) free for all ages. Log on to for more info and performer lineups. — J. Graham

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
