Islands Perform Free Show in S.F.

(Islands' video for "The Arm" from Arm's Way)

If you can't afford the ticket to see quirky popsters Islands at Bimbo's on Monday, June 16th, you can see the band earlier that same day. You'll just need to crowd around all the iPod customers waiting to get their players fixed on their lunch hour. The downtown Apple store hosts Islands for an in-store performance on Monday at 12:30 p.m. The price of admission is sacrificing personal space for a complimentary show -- and hey, in this crappy economy that's no small offering. -- Jennifer Maerz

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
