Rolling Stones in '68

Posted By on Wed, Jun 4, 2008 at 7:00 AM

Local rock historian Richie Unterberger returns to the Page St. Library next week for another round of rare rock 'n' roll screenings. On Wednesday, June 11, from 7 until 9 p.m., he focuses on the year 1968, showing carefully-culled clips from the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, James Brown, Arthur Brown, the Supremes, Pete Seeger, Janis Joplin, the Jefferson Airplane, and more. Get to this free event early -- or your ass is gonna be on hard concrete. These fun little gatherings are always standing room only by the end. -- Jennifer Maerz

The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
