MP3 of the Day: Soft Circle

Posted By on Thu, May 22, 2008 at 8:52 AM

I've given Soft Circle ink on this blog before because I'm a big fan of his abstract tracks. Ex-Black Dice-r Hisham Akira Bharoocha taps into some meditative listening with this solo project. Musically, he's said his aim is to match the warm vibrations of his songs with his "vibrations from within." But even if your insides stay pretty darn still within your body, the soft drones of his vocals and the light thumps of his percussion can transport you to his sonic jungle of electro-acoustic creatures. Today he has two new tracks for free download, "Night Hike" and "Drumbler." Enjoy. -- Jennifer Maerz

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
