Jay Reatard: tonight and on vinyl

Posted By on Wed, Apr 2, 2008 at 10:27 AM

It's crazy that Jay Reatard's gonna be at the Warfield tonight. The spastic, lightning-speed garage punk seems best suited for small clubs where he can smash things. But hey, the dude got set up on a tour with the Black Keys and he's ready to show the kids what rock 'n' roll is really all about. Reatard is also releasing a couple singles through Matador--limited edition, one 7-inch per customer kinda stuff. The first in the series, "See/Saw" b/w "Screaming Hand," is available for pre-order now, for all you collector's item types. -- Jennifer Maerz

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
