You heard it right, ladies and gentlemen. Your favorite Oakland art-damaged rocker Jamie Stewart aka Xiu Xiu will be dropping his New Women as Lovers Double LP via the Absolute Kosher imprint and has a tour for 2008. This comes on the heels of the lawsuit that Jamie has handed Camel and Rolling Stone " for allegedly using the Xiu Xiu brand unlawfully". Click for the PR.

Absolutely Kosher Records is thrilled to announce the release of Xiu Xiu’s Women as Lovers Double LP on January 29, 2008. Pre-order has already

Already destined to be a collectors item, this 45 RPM wide grooved album will provide richer sound and more range to enjoy this beautiful record’s 14 songs. In an age of downloading where cover art has been all but forgotten, the gatefold cover by Jamie Stewart’s brother Joe Stewart is a piece of art in its own right and serves as a reminder why vinyl will never become obsolete.

Women as Lovers will be a famous album. It marries the ancient with the futuristic, each in all their beauty and terror. Traditional gongs collide with a rat's nest of computerized layering. To hear it is to remember music's native purpose, a howl against the gloom. No other Xiu Xiu album has ever been more approachable or communicative on a basic human level. What people sometimes fail to recognize is that Stewart is writing about all of us, not a freak writing about freakish things. He voices what the rest of us have a hard time voicing and the feelings in the music are ones that we can all relate to.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
