The Artists Behind Michael Jackson, Sigur Ros and God of War -- A curated tour by Creep Machine's Josh

1. Mark Ryden's "General Sherman"


Trained at the Art Center in Pasadena. Mark Ryden is one of the top "Pop" artists. His work has been seen in movies such as Monkeybone and album covers for bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Michael Jackson, Oingo Boingo and many others. The print shown here is from "The Tree Show," his most recent solo show at the Michael Kohn Gallery in Los Angeles. It's a lithograph and is from an edition of 500.

2. Charlie Wen "Bathsheeba"


Charlie Wen is an illustrator and concept artist who has worked for clients like: Sony, Disney, Dreamworks and Darkhorse. This print is from the God of War show at the Nucleus Gallery. All the work was based off of the popular game God of War. This is a great piece, I love the look of watercolor when it is gestural and exciting.

3. Stella Im Hultberg "Shadows Lost"


Stella Im Hultberg is a painter living in New York. She has a background in Indudstrial Design, but now mainly paints these wonderful watercolor portraits. She has a huge list of shows, and has shown work with artists like Brandi Milne, Audrey Kawasaki & Amy Sol. Her prints sell out very quickly. This one is from an Edition of 50 and is signed and numbered by the artist.

4. James Jean "Sigur Ros"


An award winning Illustrator from Los Angeles, James has worked with Rolling Stone, Playboy, Spin and The New York Times. It's the work that he does with DC Comic "Fables" that has made him so many fans. He has a very colorful, dreamy style that fits the music of Sigur Ros quite well. It's also very hard to find art based on the band, so having some from such a great artist like James Jean is a definate

5. Luke Chueh "Possessed"


Luke Chueh is an artist based out of Los Angeles. His work is instanly recognizable and has gotten his very popular. Acrylic paintings that often put rabbits or bears in either tragic or funny situations. This specific print was released along with his "Possessed" vinly toy. It a 5 color silkscreen print on chipboard and is from an edition of 250.
