Air Guitar at the Independent tonight! Check in tomorrow for a slideshow and show review.

In the meantime, here are some preview words from the Examiner, and here are some pictures from last year.

Our preview, by Michael Leaverton, is here:

Lords of Airness

After a one-month blitz around the country, the Air Guitar Regionals makes one of its last stops before the finals in New York and the world championships in, for reasons that are never clear, Finland. The event is hotly anticipated, as the Bay Area is teeming with air guitar hopefuls, also for reasons that are never clear. Alameda's own sombrero-wearing Craig Billmeier -- sorry, I mean "Hott Lixx Houlihan" -- won the U.S. finals last year with his flamenco/speed metal onslaught and his glorious "salute then collapse" signature glam move. Tour vet Bjorn Turoque MCs the event, and SF Weekly's own Jennifer Maerz cuts down the weak as one of the judges.

Date/Time: Thu., June 28, 8:00pm

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
