Quit Bitching: Thursday Night Picks

Posted By on Thu, Jun 14, 2007 at 3:42 PM

I know, I know. It feels like an eternity until Big Brother returns to TV. (Although I don't know why I want to get sucked in again, especially since last year the world's nastiest asshole, Mike Boogie [I’ll burn in hell before I give him a link], won over the exquisite and most brilliant Janelle. That was some awful bullshit. Pft.) But until then, it's a perfect window of opportunity go out and about, folks. Check out Ruby Skye tonight. They’re hosting the Janelle-like brilliant, underground dance music kings, Bassbin Twins. And if being in their presence at this downtown venue isn't awesome enough, admission is free tonight. Priceless. Literally. (9 p.m., free)

But if you’re in a more drunk-on-a-barstool kind of mood, "Built for Speed" at Delirium, in the Mission, will do nicely, too. DJs Fashion Hooker and Platform Whore hit the decks. (10 p.m., free) --Brock Keeling

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
