Quit Bitching: Wednesday Night Picks

Posted By on Wed, Jun 13, 2007 at 2:53 PM

When it comes to Wednesdays, the list of decent DJ-heavy nights in San Francisco are a bit on the thin side, and not in a good way. But if you’re a Y chromosome carrier and have always wondered how to parlay that fine-looking chest into free drinks, look no further than "Macho" at SOMA's Powerhouse. Tonight, going shirtless will score you either free or very cheap drinks. (Ladies, you might think that this is sexist, but outside of the Powerhouse, there is something that you too can score for flashing your tits. It's called anyfuckingthing you want.) The ripped and worn-out jeans contest starts at midnight, and Carlton, Jose, and Liebre man the decks. (9pm, free)

Also, and even better, is Juanita MORE!'s "Eat My Burger" at Truck. DJ sounds provided by the lovely MORE!, drink specials, MORE! boys, an attractive crowd, and, of course, hamburgers will be plentiful. Be there, or face a lifetime of regret. (9 p.m., free) --Brock Keeling

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
