You Will Think They Can Tap

Wednesday, Aug 10 2011
So You Think You Can Dance is a horrible reality television show. It's formulaic, arbitrarily competitive, and hosted by a very, very annoying woman. But it's also the platform for what might be the best dancing the television world has ever seen, and for this we love it and watch it. At the annual Bay Area Rhythm Exchange tap-danceathon, Melinda Sullivan of SYTYCD shows up to join indefatigable dance promoter Channing Cook Holmes and the show's now-customary lineup of talented Broadway hoofers. Additionally, the fantastic gay stompingmen of the Barbary Coast Cloggers return to represent the nonmetal foot-noisemaking community.

Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
