Who Rogaines? We Rogaine!

Wednesday, Jan 25 2012
Rogaine is a hair-regrowth drug. It’s also a long-distance navigation game that makes participants feel like English adventurer “Bear” Grylls. The latter rogaining was born in the 1970s, when Australians thought facing harsh terrain, racing against time, and traveling for 24 hours straight with minimal supplies would be awesome. The Mission Street Scramble — one of numerous rogaining events held throughout the city and the Bay Area — allows us to show off our inner Bear with a more urban take on the classic adventure game. Though participants don’t navigate wild terrain, they may run up California Street — and really, is that any less challenging? Each participant is given a time period to visit various neighborhood checkpoints on a map. The goal is to check off as many locations within the given time and make it back to the base as quickly as possible. Start off easy with 90 minutes — or take on three hours. Either way, there’s a party afterward with snacks, drinks, and awards.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
