What Have We Here

When: Wed., Oct. 24, 6 p.m. 2018
Price: Free
The evening’s presentation will include a program of artist made film and videos that explore human relationships to interior spaces, objects, decor and furniture—the things that give us comfort, status and affirm identity or conversely, become refuse, expose our fragility, leave us alienated or economically spent. What Have We Here examines the consequences of desire and consumerism while others offer philosophical musings about perception and tensions of cultural markers represented in domestic spaces and objects we covet. SCREENING: Catalogue, Vol.6 (2016) and Catalogue, Vol.10 (2017) by Dana Berman Duff; Posthaste Perennial Pattern (2010) by Jodie Mack; Furniture Poetry (1999) by Paul Bush; The Hunch that Caused the Winning Streak and Fought the Doldrums Mightily (2010) by Stephanie Barber; The Weight of Things (2015) by Dana Levy; Upholstered Furniture In The Grass: Polstermöbel im Grünen (1984) by Christine Noll Brinckmann and… a super secret surprise!

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
