Where art and wonk meet, things are bound to go dorky, like at the Valencia Streetscape Art Advisory meeting. This event really has a sexy name, don't you think? Doesn't it just call out to you creative types? And haven't you, neighborhood activists, always wanted to sit in a fluorescent-lit room inside the cop shop and let city officials tell you what's going to happen to your main street? Didn't think so. But! Keep in mind that it's put on by the commission responsible for a ton of cool stuff, including the Market Street kiosk posters and Art at City Hall. Plus, the squeaky wheel gets the grease, so Valencianos will have no one to blame if they don't make themselves heard at this hoedown. Now that you've all been to the Planning Commission to beat that formula retail store, this one ought to be a breeze. The Public Art Program uses this meeting to elect two people to serve on the Valencia Streetscape Artist Selection Panel — if you want to serve, be sure to fill out the form (see Web site), and submit it by noon today.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
