According to the Chinese zodiac, this is the Year of the Ox, an animal so fitting for our times an ox is a castrated bull that we could barely get out of bed. Although the poor beast has no stimulus package, he does have a Depression-era work ethic: Attach something to him and hell haul it, to hell and back, for hay. This weekend, celebrate the path to prosperity and full-body exhaustion by hauling yourself to one of the many Chinese New Year events, such as the traditional parade (www.chineseparade.com) and the traditional treasure hunt (www.sftreasurehunt.com), both on Feb. 7. Today, the Chinese New Year Concert and Celebration features performances by Chinese violinist Siqing Lu, Chinese ensemble Melody of China, the Crystal Children's Choir, and the S.F. Symphony, along with a reception with lion dancers and fortune tellers.
