Wallpaper.
Wallpaper. performs with A-1 and Parentz on Friday, March 23, at the Rickshaw Stop. 8:30 p.m., $15.
If the last four months have been any indication, this may be one of Wallpaper.'s last intimate hometown shows for a while. The Oakland crunk-pop outfit was personally signed to Epic Records late last year by noted producer L.A. Reid, and its profile has expanded accordingly: "Best Song Everrr" is playing on radio stations across the country, the band recently roused the crowd on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and its stage show has expanded into a five-person, two-drum-kit party of synchronized clapping, absurd ad-libbing, and throbbing bass. Couple all that with getting profiled in Rolling Stone, and this local favorite seems have its "pop for the 99 percent" on the fast-track to the big time. Catch Ricky Reed and Co. in a small room while you still can.
