Vote With Your Art

The jig is up tonight, as you well know. George Bush is leaving. But who will succeed him? Artists have as much at stake as anyone else; can't imagine arts funding would increase during a McCain administration, no matter how much the GOP spends on face paint. So artists and art enthusiasts come together at the art museum to shout it out as the polls close. The evening includes the presence of choreographer Anna Halprin, several dance companies, art installations, DJs, young visual artists, and a musical group called Hella Hella Acapella. A cash bar helps ease the pain, and the capper is free pizza come hell or high water when the polls close.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
