Dance Brigade is calling its latest show, Hemorrhage, "A dance installation at the intersection of new San Francisco and world politics." Through the eyes of artistic director Krissy Keefer, and her all-female cast, we examine issues of racism, gender inequality, and San Franciscan gentrification. Keefer says, "Dance Mission Theater has been Dance Brigade's home for the past 15 years. We have weathered two other booms and busts and literally have a bird's-eye view of the new Mission, as we are located at the corner of 24th and Mission on the second story of a historical building — a building that has always been dedicated to the movement arts. Businesses, populations and transportation systems have transformed before our very eyes. San Francisco has long been a hotbed for the fight for social justice. But that is changing and our artistic response is ready." With athletic modern dance, provocative text, and live drumming, Keefer will make sure that you'll leave feeling a little more prepared for the social justice struggle than you did before the show.
