UberLand

When: Sat., June 1, 9:15 p.m. and Tue., June 4, 9 p.m. 2019
Price: $12
UberLand is a first-of-its-kind feature-length documentary film that pulls back the curtain on the labor issues surrounding Uber and the gig economy. It’s the story of a scandal-ridden startup that upended transportation, defied regulators, decimated the taxi industry, and ended up cannibalizing its own drivers. The film follows San Francisco Uber drivers Eric, Robin, Antonio, and Xavier as these independent contractors navigate meager earnings and few labor protections. UberLand features interviews with workers and Silicon Valley thought leaders, and asks us to consider the true cost of the gig economy.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
