Two Men Walk Into a Subway Station...

Wednesday, Oct 13 2010
Two strangers experience a startling encounter on a New York City subway platform. It leads them to a tenement building, where they engage in a lengthy verbal exchange that covers the very meaning of existence. Welcome aboard. You’re on the Sunset Limited. It opens the eighth season for SF Playhouse. Artistic director Bill English says he wants every play this season to answer the questions “Why do we do theatre?” and “How does theatre serve our community?” Sunset is an appropriate start. It has been described as “a novel in a play form,” and its author is novelist Cormac McCarthy. McCarthy’s previous works include All the Pretty Horses, the Road and No Country for Old Men. Acting in the play are TV and film star Carl Lumbly as well as Charles Dean. English directs and designed the set.
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: Oct. 8. Continues through Nov. 6, 2010

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
