Toon Time

We don't see touring storytellers all that often, especially ones who have schedules as packed as Joe Wos' (in 2003 alone, for instance, he gave more than 300 performances). But this veteran teller of fairy and folk tales offers something extra to keep the kids glued to the carpet: He not only tells stories, but he also draws them, cranking out cartoon characters with his lightning-fast pen. Bring the kids or stand quietly in back as Wos performs a short piece and signs his How to Toon DVD.

    Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage.
