But those looking to take on some hardcore Fist-ing should visit Thursday, March 19. 9 p.m., $20; 771-1422 or www.theindependentsf.com.
It'd be easy to chart a Venn diagram of the sonic relationships delivered by Canadian production duo MSTRKRFT. Just assign red to the beat, blue to the bass, and green to the synths, and then align them perfectly atop one another to form a throbbing brown circle, a reverb-saturated, speaker-cone–shaped palpitation. It's all about the total overdriven overlap of much, much more and never enough. For Fist of God, MSTRKRFT's sophomore full-length, partners Jesse F. Keeler and Al-P layer machine drum clap, distorted arpeggios, and noise-rinsed harmonics; they are less effective when they top this scuzzy disco with crossover-begging MCs.
