None of the local musicians paying tribute to the VU classic at Undercover presents the Velvet Underground & Nico are known for "that kind of music." Charith Premawardhana is one of the founders of national phenom Classical Revolution. Rupa Marya is seriously famous for sleek fusions of French chanson, rock, and various world beats. And Michael Musika is a legendary folk demigod, as is Matt Adams of the Blank Tapes. the other 44 musicians, well, maybe some of them already play damaged, soulful art-rock, but most are virtuosic in their own genres -- making them perfect for the knock-down, drag-out track-by-track taking of the epic record.

    Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday.
