The Soft Moon: Show Preview

Wednesday, Oct 26 2011

Performing as the Soft Moon, Luis Vasquez made an impression almost immediately after the release of his captivating, occasionally terrifying self-titled debut earlier this year. Recorded in Vasquez's Oakland apartment, the album's 11 songs raced along like a grayscale horror flick, half-electronic and half-rock, marrying the rhythmic linearity of New Order with the unsettling atmospheres of Joy Division. After winning widespread acclaim and touring internationally — including a sold-out hometown show at this year's Noise Pop festival — Vasquez is back with a follow-up EP, titled Total Decay. Fittingly, he's celebrating its release with a special Halloween performance alongside Chelsea Wolfe, Led Er Est, and Michael Stock.
