Thank the graphic equalizer gods that some groups — like New York's These Are Powers — don't fear frequencies below 300 Hz. In the band's self-described "ghost punk," Pat Noecker's dubby, effects-fucked bass and Bill Salas' tom-heavy, electronically augmented rhythms combine with Anna Barie's hypnotrance wails and bottled-lightning guitar to create a full-frequency freakout.
