The Final Frontier

Wednesday, Jun 5 2013

If you've ever solved a Rubik's Cube, met Stan Lee, or been in the Guinness Book of World Records, you might be a perfect candidate for Dating for Nerds. Those are just a few of the "geek feats" that Nerds at Heart uses as icebreakers during their singles mixers. Dating for Nerds takes the traditional singles night and tweaks it to suit brainiacs. There is an emphasis on trivia and board games, and the prizes will be familiar to geeks and dweebs of all stripes: A Pac-Man bike bell and a Captain America compass are up for grabs. As with most mixers, there are drink specials and regular table rotations to keep things moving. And while Nerds at Heart wears the label proudly, they also allow attendees to self-define. There is no pocket-protector requirement — if you feel like a nerd (or a smart single), you're welcome. Note: Advance registration is required.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
