Whether you're watching the 1984 version in which Patrick Swayze defends the U.S. against a Soviet invasion, or the 2012 version in which Chris Hemsworth defends the U.S. against a North Korean invasion, Red Dawn is a bad movie. Which one's worse? Come see for yourself at the double-feature Bad Movie Night at the Dark Room. Sunday is the final show of the Bay Area movie-riffing night, says SF Weekly film critic Sherilyn Connelly, who's put on Bad Movie Night since its inception in 2005. And why is Red Dawn the movie of choice for the goodbye show? The 1984 version was the very first film Bad Movie Night riffed, way back in March 2005. The upcoming show is not only its last at the Dark Room, but also the 10th anniversary of Bad Movie Night. The riffers have shown Red Dawn every year on the event's anniversary, and they've shown the new version too, since it was released.
Bad Movie Night is showing Red Dawn(s) at 6 p.m. at the Dark Room, 2263 Mission St., S.F. $6.99; 415-890-0082 or darkroomsf.com.
