Draggin' Quest

It's time again for the Drag Queens of Comedy! Presented by Sasha Soprano — self-billed as "producer, celebutante, heiress" — this now yearly comedy showcase features some of the Bay Area's top drag performers. The one and only Jackie Beat, the one and only Peaches Christ, the one and only Shangela, the one and only Coco Peru, and more present two shows filled with politically un-correct, over-the-top comedic performances. It's the perfect opportunity to, as Soprano says, "adjust your medication appropriately" — whatever your medication of choice is, no judgment — and sit back, relax, and enjoy a uniquely San Franciscan showcase at the uniquely San Franciscan Castro Theatre.

Sasha Soprano presents the Drag Queens of Comedy at 7 and 10 p.m. at the Castro Theatre, 429 Castro St., S.F. $45-$55. 415-621-6350 or dragqueensofcomedy.com.

  • clipping at Brava Theater Sept. 11
Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
