Ask people which deity theyre celebrating in the St. Stupids Day Parade and you might hear, All of them. You might also hear sausage or hair dryer the parade celebrates anarchy, if anything, and straight answers arent revolutionary. Founded by Bishop Joey of the First Church of the Last Laugh, St. Stupids Day hit its stride in the culture-jamming, guerrilla-art era before the Web lulled us into the sleep of babies, dreaming of friend requests and what we are doing right now. But its still a good show: The general idea is to dress up in something silly, stupid, or referencing Zippy the Pinhead; surround yourself with low companions; and channel your ire against something that deserves it. For eight years, the Stupids had Bush to kick around. Now they have bankers. Since the parade falls on a weekday, it lurches appropriately through the Financial District, stopping for revelry at the institutions and businesses that honor and have now destroyed the almighty dollar. Our advice is to act really stupid.
