The Telegraph Quartet presents its fall quartet-in-residence recital at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in Sol Joseph Recital Hall on October 23. A very late chamber work of Haydn's, his String Quartet in F Major Op. 77/2 shows the composer at his most magnanimous and noble in spirit. Berg's String Quartet Op. 3, in comparison, is the work of a composer breaking the bonds of his student self into his first astoundingly mature work. The program concludes with Britten's String Quartet No. 2 in C Major, using ancient techniques viewed through a modern lens to commemorate Henry Purcell's death.
