Point all the fingers you want about the passage of Proposition 8, which amended the fucking state Constitution to deny the right of same-sex couples to marry. You can say it was the Morms, it was the No on 8 organizers, it was parents whatever. (Or, yes, if youre a fascinatingly contorted bigot, you can say it was African-American Christians.) In the end, none of these groups are responsible: It was voters, who think they hate gays. They voted to pass this gay-hating piece of legislation. And were so naive. We still dont get it: Whats the whole hate thing about? Where does that even come from? It makes no sense. As far as were concerned, you should hate people only on a personal basis, and with specious reasoning, such as He dumped me. But, like, They love each other? What is wrong with those voters? Our theory is Harvey Milks theory: They dont know that they already know a bunch of gays, whom they love, and whom they only wish were teaching their children. Were not alone. The young, bright-eyed new activists of One Struggle One Fight are holding a Civil Rights March to Sacramento to alert the public to efforts to overturn this fucked decision. It kicks off, as they say, with a rally today, and finishes March 30 in the state capital.
