Although many in the hip-hop world would argue that the Black Star (1998) album collaboration with Mos Def was Talib Kweli Greene's defining moment, upon further inspection, Mr. Greene has done just fine on his own. The folks at Stern Grove's free outdoor concert series have outdone themselves yet again pairing Greene with the multi-talented Zakiya Harris. If you're looking for a heady mix of smart R&B, hip-hop, and even World music, you're in luck. Kweli has a lot of great catalog to choose from, and fans can expect to hear tracks from Radio Silence (2015) and, of course, his highly acclaimed sixth studio album, 2013's awesome Gravitas. This is the last show of Stern Grove's 2015 season so expect lots of fanfare and an inspiring set from a well-known artist who turned back the clock and decided to start his own record label, Javotti Media, in 2012.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
