Souls of Mischief
Catch Souls of Mischief Wednesday, Nov. 24, at Slim's. 9 p.m., $21; www.slims-sf.com.
It's been 17 years since Souls of Mischief's seminal Bay Area rap anthem "93 Til Infinity" (and debut album of the same name), and the Oakland-based group is still performing and recording. MCs A-Plus, Opio, Phesto, and Tajai met in grammar and junior high, yet their razor-sharp delivery feels fresher than their lengthy back catalog might suggest. Though the Souls' tone might be more serious and less frivolous now — despite working with rap comedy king Prince Paul on the 2009 album Montezuma's Revenge — the group is still ready to pump up a party.
