Buffalo's Soulive (Alan Evans, Neal Evans, and Eric Krasno) is the rare group that found prominence in both the jazz world — via work with Blue Note, Concord, Velour, and Stax — and in hip-hop circles, via remix collections and collaborations with rappers such as the Beatnuts, J-Live, and Chali 2na. In San Francisco, the trio will be joined onstage by friend and collaborator Karl Denson, the San Diego saxophonist and singer known for his work with the Greyboy Allstars and his own Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, for a live performance of career highlights plus covers of whatever strikes their fancy. At recent gigs, that meant stellar versions of songs like "Joy and Pain" by Maze and "Come Together" by the Beatles.
