Is this country in a magical time for comedy, or are we just in a good mood? San Francisco has Ali Wong, Kamau Bell, Brent Weinbach, and Beth Lisick. The greater U.S. has Zach Galifianakis, Wanda Sykes, and Aziz Ansari. He provides some of the best moments on NBCs Parks and Recreation, as well as hilarious guest spots on shows including Flight of the Conchords, where lead characters Bret and Jemaine confront his character, fruit vendor Sinjay, about his misdirected prejudice against Australians. Tonight Ansari delivers a stand-up set, and if his stint last January at Sketchfest is any indication, your face is gonna hurt after this one. Besides his own brand of josh, he has been trotting out his character, Randy, whom he plays in the upcoming Judd Apatow film Funny People. (Isnt every comedy dood in Los Angeles dying to get into that clown car?) Randy is your standard superbozo telling boner jokes, with a catchphrase thats just his own name said really looooong. From the smart mouth of Ansari, its powerfully enjoyable. Were in a good mood.
