The big problem with basketball is that it’s too hard. Practically impossible. Very dangerous. Maybe that’s why it’s so fun to watch? At the San Francisco Gay Basketball Association League Finals, everyone finds out. This grand celebration of local gay basketball includes the announcement of league prizes (hottest, best-looking, most beautiful, etc.) by Greg the Gay Sportscaster of Energy 92.7, and appearances by Cheer SF. Not to downplay the athletes, but it’s a good thing these are championship games, because with Cheer SF around, mere sports teams always have to compete for audience attention. And they’re already playing basketball. Halftime fan-skills contests, yelling, staring, and impure thoughts are all part of the plan; no word yet on celebrities with courtside seats.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
