Near-death experiences, or NDEs, are all the rage these days. With the medical field making new strides in cardiac resuscitation, the number of NDEs reported is on the rise. NDEs are described by doctors as hallucinations; the more spiritual folks who've experienced an NDE sometimes believe it has connections to the afterlife. People describe bright lights shining at the ends of tunnels, feelings of warmth, and a sense of detachment from one's body. Whether or not these experiences hint at something spiritual is scientifically unproven, but the stories of NDE veterans sure are interesting. Barbara Bartolome will be telling her NDE story at Near-Death Experience Story Night, the monthly meetup she organizes of NDE experiencers and hobbyists; apparently, coming within a close proximity to one's own earthly demise can have a profound effect on the psyche and worldview.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
