Sing Me A Story: A Concert of Ballads, Folksongs, and Stories

The University of California Alumni Chorus presents “Sing Me a Story…ballads, folk songs, and stories set to music.” In a lively evening of musical tales, the chorus will be joined by acclaimed tenor Johnny Orenberg and renowned storyteller Tim Ereneta for a program that includes songs by Benjamin Britten, Franz Schubert, Randall Thompson, Aaron Copland, Johannes Brahms, Charles Ives, and others. Orenberg, currently a resident artist with Livermore Valley Opera, has performed in musical theater all over the US; award-winning storyteller Tim Ereneta connects ancient stories to modern day life, and has told stories from Washington DC to Chennai, India.

    Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
