Ashbury Market in the Upper Haight -- an early model for the new San Francisco high-end corner store -- has changed hands. Word is the shop's extensive wine program, which spawned the winning list at Eos, may get the boot.

Meanwhile, the Eos crew has been sighted walking Brannan Street with its real estate broker.

Still Waters
Promotional ads in the latest Details and Vanity Fair trumpet the have-to-have Evian Natural Spring Water Guide to the Hottest Restaurants & Nightclubs in San Francisco. "Dine in any of the participating restaurants between April 1st and 21st ... Purchase a bottle of Evian for your table and receive a special Evian gift," the copy promises.

Well, obviously they don't plan on giving out too many of these presents -- Harry called for his booklet weeks ago and still nothing in the mailbox. Get it together, people -- I want my freebie.

Liquor Is Quicker
Popped into Absinthe for a post-performance whistle-wetter and found that after a year, this charming Hayes Street restaurant still maintains the most enjoyable -- and informative -- drink list in town. Bar manager Marco Dioysos continues to dig up rare cocktails from the golden age of tippling, citing his '30s and '40s sources on the menu and re-creating them with a real drink dork's fervor. Lost ingredients like orange bitters and maraschino liqueur are resurrected in the Casino and Bolshoi cocktails, while Dioysos' graceful use of gin goes against the rabid vodka trend. True to the restaurant's name, it features eight types of pastis, while the brunch menu is anchored by Death in the Afternoon, Papa Hemingway's favorite champagne and pernod picker-upper. Stop in for a bevvy soon -- and tell Marco "hi" from Harry.

One Leg at a Time
Haven't logged so much e-mail since I first reported on the Black Cat. In fact, my expose of the dreaded drawstring pant has resulted in an online debate, which may soon result in a new spinoff men's fashion column. Hey, Harry just doesn't think that gussied-up sweats are appropriate for this city's classy dining rooms. And while we're on the subject: cargo pants? Sure, I thought they were cool -- when I was in grade school.

Let's Get Ready to Rumble!
Apparently, it's Food Beat vs. The Scoop, as our local foodies in the drab dailies are spicing it up with a war of words that would have made Hedda and Louella proud. The afternoon epicure fired the most brutal broadside last week regarding the morning columnist's stale news -- I quote: "Yesterday's news today."

Our own little Celebrity Death Match! How quaint. May I offer my services as referee? Harry's good with children.

    Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday.
